Strategic Planning

Economic Development

Dr. Farmer is one of a dozen individuals in the world to hold a doctorate degree in Community Economic Development.  The CED Doctor can help you with strategic economic development planning, site selection and evaluation, and impact analysis to determine the true impact of your economic development strategy.  Avoid making common costly mistakes and develop your economic development strategy in partnership with key stakeholders who will then have ownership in its success.  

Affordable Housing

We believe clean safe decent affordable housing is an inherent right and not a privilege.  Dr. Farmer has specific expertise in Affordable Housing Finance and Development having served Community Development Corporations and private developers to create almost 1,800 units of housing. We have helped developer build affordable housing using state issued Low Income Tax Credits, local CDBG, CHDO, & HOME Programs, and HUD funded programs.  The CED Doctor can help you create a housing development strategy to generate catalytic change in distressed communities that lead to neighborhood revitalization, increased property values, and improved quality of life for old and new community residents.  We don't rape communities of its resources, we re-make communities by organizing community stakeholders, planning, attracting resources, and building collaborative partnerships that promote long term sustainable development.

New Market Tax Credits and CDFI Funds

The CED Doctor has worked with New Market Tax Credits since 2001 when the program was newly introduced to community development practitioners.  Dr. Farmer has served the U.S. Treasury Community Development Financial Institute for over a decade helping to identify appropriate target investments for NMTCs and CDFI Loan Funds.    If you want to become a Certified Development Entity (CDE) or a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), the CED Doctor can help you gain appropriate status to become eligible for funding.   If you already have CDE or CDFI status,  let us lead you through the highly competitive application process and successfully WIN an award.
